The History Behind La Ribera
This area has evidence of human habitation dating back over 10,000 years ago. Early inhabitants include the Cochimí Indians and later Spanish settlers who were drawn to the region due to its abundant resources and mild climate. The town was officially founded in 1844 by Antonio Mijares as “La Punta de la Ribera” (“the point at the river mouth”). Over time it was shortened to “La Ribera” and today it continues to be one of Mexico’s most desirable locations for both tourists and potential real estate buyers alike.
