The Cape, a Thompson Hotel hosted the Los Cabos Open of Surf, which had been traditionally held at Zippers in Costa Azul annually. The 2019 edition featured Rob Machado, Josh Kerr, Anastasia Ashley, and a slew of killer pro-surfers. The competition was dubbed the “Soft-Top Soiree” and all rode similar soft-top shortboards to remove any advantage.

Lemongrass is an oriental plant and an ingredient increasingly used in drinks and food also in the west.
Dane and I planted this wonderful plant at our “Ranchito Alma de mi Alma” in Pescadero BCS and it only took a couple of weeks for the root to start giving the leaf. Since then we have had delicious fresh tea every morning.
Properties and benefits of lemongrass:
Antimicrobial and antibacterial capacity
Among its medicinal properties, its antimicrobial and antibacterial action stands out.
Good skin remedy
As a consequence of the above, lemongrass is good for the skin. It helps, to a large extent, to mitigate the growth of bacteria or microbes in the skin, and it is also good for reducing pores.
Rich in vitamins and minerals
This plant is rich in vitamins A and C. But it also contains minerals such as copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc or manganese.
Insect repellent
If we are looking for a natural insect repellent, lemongrass is a good solution because it brings a citrus perfume that we like very much but not so much to insects.
Uses of lemongrass in the kitchen
It is usually very finely chopped to add to various dishes such as soups in the form of sauce to offer a somewhat different flavor and with a touch of lemon.
Lemongrass is known for its aroma and citrus flavor, which brings many benefits to the body and has thousands of uses in kitchens.
We enjoy it as an infusion based in lemon tea. It is also digestive and analgesic.

One of our main priorities for our property in Pescadero is to create a food forest that will provide nourishment for years to come. A staple of that forest is the avocado. Avocados are a super-food that we enjoy eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A corn tortilla crisped on the gas range with mashed avocado, lime, and salsa can be a quick, easy snack that is devoured quickly. To this end, we planted five avocado trees and I am happy to report that they are all happy and healthy.
Where you come in
The problem that we ran into is we aren’t totally sure which varieties of avocados we have. Of course, when they start producing fruit we will figure it out but that’s no fun. We are fairly certain that number one is a Hass avocado because it is the only tree we did not plant. Actually, we threw the pit out and miraculously it just grew. The only concern is that it is growing about three feet from my grapefruit tree which will definitely be an issue in a few years. The other four varieties are anyone’s guess. I will leave the comments open on this post and if you fancy yourself an avocado expert than please share your knowledge!

Super Bowl LIV, the 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League championship game, will decide the champion for the NFL’s 2019 and 100th season. The National Football Conference champion San Francisco 49ers will play against the American Football Conference champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Growing up in the Bay Area, I was birthed into the fandom of the San Francisco 49ers as they were “the team of the 1980’s” winning Super Bowls in 1982 and 1985. I was too young during those wins to really understand what was going on but during my formative years experienced back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1989 and 1990 when I was eight and nine years old respectively. Not only did the Niners win in ’89, but they did so in dramatic fashion that had me glued to the TV with my Dad. He had the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle the next day framed and hung in his mancave before mancave’s were a thing.

Now that I have been living in Mexico for the past six + years I find myself not following as closely to professional sports, especially with a fiancé that cares zero about any of it, but this season has been fun to watch. This year my family’s allegiance is torn because a second cousin’s brother is Eric Fisher, star offensive lineman for the Chiefs. Fortunately, either way, it will be a WIN for the Posey family.
