One of my favorites events of the year
The Gastrovino Festival is an annual event held in Todos Santos every May. Although the dates vary slightly each year, the weather is always perfect. If you are a lover of food, wine, and socializing then this is a can’t-miss event.
The 2019 version was no different with three days of festivities and although we did not partake in the Friday night VIP dinner, we more than made up for it Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday evening was the GastroTour in which you begin at the famed Hotel California to pick up your wine glass, map, and ticket and mosy your way through town glass in hand. What I love most about this event is the opportunity to discover restaurants that you might otherwise miss. My business has been so hectic lately that we end up visiting the same restaurants over and over whenever we are in Todos Santos. I especially never miss an opportunity for lunch at Pacifica Fish Market near Las Tunas.
This year turned us on to a new gem in town, Pizzeria RomAntica. As a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I fancy myself an expert on the pie. Meeting the owner Georgio and watching him in his craft it became immediately apparent that my expertise was novice at best. The pizza we sampled during the Gastrotour was so good that we went back for dinner two days later.
Sunday marked the actual festival and although my silent auction bids were all beat, we had another stellar time. It only occurred to me later when editing my pictures that I took very few of the actual event. I blame the wine.
