Updates and such

The California plates have been removed and replaced with South Dakota license plates. Why? Did you know that South Dakota is one of the only states in the union that does not require a vehicle registered in the state to be insured in the state? This flexibility allows me to maintain a US plated vehicle as a “Temporary Resident” in Cabo. 

The registration process is easy and can all be done over the phone and by mail. A step by step guide can be found here at the “Discover Baja Travel Club” website.

I remember visiting my dad in Cabo and seeing a lot of cars with South Dakota license plates and thinking, “There sure are a lot of South Dakotans that like to drive to Cabo for vacation.” Little did I know that Cabo is called “South, South Dakota” for this reason.

Now, what happens if and when I become a “Permanent Resident” or a citizen? We will find out…

The move is becoming more real as the days pass. It is essential to go south for reconnaissance and cement the details.

For the past couple of years, I have been traveling to Hollywood on a regular basis to study the art of improvisation at the Second City and iOWest theaters. I love what it taught me and met many passionate people. The lessons that I learned there have also become important in my life. Follow the fear and lead with yes.

A desire to learn more about myself and an opportunity to sell Real Estate in San Jose del Cabo has me on course to move permanently at the end of the summer. My favorite part of this decision so far is the looks I get. At the Equinox in Irvine, when I tell the guys I hoop with that I am selling most of what I own and moving to Mexico it’s priceless. Doesn’t seem fathomable. This may be machismo, only time will tell, but I have never been so sure of anything in my life.
