Imagine You Live HERE – Cabo – Beachfront or Bust?

Dane PoseyEverything Pose Knows Cabo, Imagine You Live Here | Destino Magazine Los Cabos

If I were a betting man, which I have not been since the Cadillac MI County Fair of 87 when I lost it all in the milk bottle toss, I would wager that if money were no object your first choice in Baja Real Estate would be a Cabo beachfront property. The closer to the ocean, the better.

What normal human wouldn’t want the only thing between them and the shimmering turquoise of the Sea of Cortés to be a bedroom screen door? To watch the whales migrating and playing from a window in their living room? To be able to spend all day with the most gorgeous views Mother Nature can provide for beach lovers? Beachfront property has always been a huge draw in the Los Cabos Real Estate Market and for those that have the means, it always will be.

What about the rest of us of slightly less means? Not everyone has a gold coin swimming pool vault in their study where they practice the backstroke like Scrooge McDuck. Some of us never considered that the bottom row of milk bottles were made of lead and that offering the bicycle I had just picked up off of lay-away from Toys R US as collateral to attempt a “Double-or-Nothing” to re-gain my meager savings I had lost the previous sixteen throws was a decision I would forever regret. We deserve a little piece of paradise too.

That is the beauty of nightfall in Los Cabos… The great equalizer. As the sun sets on another day of activity and the family returns home from spending time together snorkeling, splashing, and laughing, the coastline lights up. Those of us at higher elevations than sea-level enjoy the twinkling city-lights, the mountain outlines, and the desert stars and skies as far as the eye can see.

Across the board, Real Estate tours are almost always done during the day and during hours of sunlight. Nobody seems to mind that because we have more stamina when starting early and many developments, out of privacy and enjoyment for the residents, restrict tours in the evening hours. For this reason it is crucial that you always consider what your view will be when the sun sets and you are stepping onto the terrace to enjoy a glass of wine with your loved ones.

Now before all of my beachfront clients call me frantically with orders to list their homes and head for the hills, let me assure you that the natural illumination from the Baja moon provides enough wattage to ensure these properties retain their magic during all hours of the day. What is even more magical is that in Los Cabos you do not need to spend a million dollars to have a million dollar view!

“The weekend series” Baja California Sur – Santiago

Dane PoseyCabo Area Weekend Series, Everything Pose Knows Cabo

Even when you live in a paradise like San Jose del Cabo there are times when you need to get away. One of the many beauties of Los Cabos is that you can transport yourself to a new world of discovery 45 minutes in any direction. North of the SJD airport on the road to Los Barriles and Cabo Pulmo is the town of Santiago, home to many Ranchitos that should be explored first hand. Since many of you live around the world and may not have that luxury, this video explores a recent weekend trip with friends to Sol de Mayo. Cabanas are available for overnight rental for 750 pesos per night and food at the restaurant can be purchased with advance reservation. Although dogs are “not allowed” we ran into campers that had their dog without issue. The waterfall that Sol de Mayo is known for is easily accessible and within a ten minute hike from the parking area. Most visitors never explore further but that is a mistake. A deeper trek into the canyon will reveal pozas and streams that are both beautiful to view and fun to swim. Without a soul around you will feel a connection to the earth and the inspiring desert fauna that makes up the Baja. For further information or to make a reservation, email me [email protected] and I will be happy to share the secrets…

Imagine you live HERE Cabo, Mexico – The World Traveller

Imagine you live HERE Cabo, Mexico

 The World Traveller

Why would a man who travelled the world for all of his life decide to call Cabo his forever home?

Throughout his early career as General Manager for Hyatt Hotels, climbing each rung of the ladder meant a change of address. The locations he lived in throughout the United States read like a Family Feud Survey of “Ideal Cities Most Americans Would Love to Reside?” Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Oahu, Washington D.C., the list goes on. When he reached the highest levels of management his home became more stable and his global travel responsibility increased. He was given the task of installing sail and scuba activity concessions in high-end resorts throughout the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Aruba. Weeks at a time scouting and negotiating expansion locations in the most picturesque corners of the globe were as regular as his flossing habits and he flossed with vigor twice a day.

He recognized early the societal shift towards a healthy lifestyle and indulgence in self-love in the form of destination spas. Mind you, it was not too long ago that the idea of these types of vacation experiences gave most people the thought of visiting a nude colony of ex-hippies rolling around in mud while chanting “Om.” After years of travelling tropical destinations he began scouting, developing, and installing these Spas in the most exotic locales known to man. The types of places people hear about and put on their bucket list knowing that unless the lottery strikes it will remain only a dream.

In the early 2000’s an iconic Los Cabos resort changed ownership and was about to undergo a $90 Million renovation. That is when he became involved. The resort wanted to take their spa from great to exceptional and become Mexico’s premier destination spa. He had visited Cabo years prior on a Bachelor party fishing trip but this time was different. The experience transformed his perception on who he was and the future of his life.

Fast-forward to 2016 and he and the stunning, multi-talented spouse he met after completion of that project own multiple properties in Los Cabos with no plans of ever leaving their paradise. The passion he has for enjoying all that the area offers is matched only by her passion in preserving the natural gifts Cabo provides and the small town feel it has enjoyed over its history.

This man has traveled the world and seen places that enhanced digital photography could not do justice to. Destinations that most only see while watching the Travel Channel or splashed across the pages of the in-flight magazines. Places that require three months’ paychecks just to cover airfare. He told me one night over a tequila on the ocean terrace of Villa La Estancia that even after all of the globe-trotting he had done throughout his years that it was not until he came to Cabo that he truly fell in love. Imagine that.
