The kids (literally) would not share any waves with Angie this morning at our surf session near Costa Azul on a fun wave called “Pescadito.” If you have ever been to the San Joseé del Cabo beachfront restaurant “Zipper’s” than you know which wave I am talking about. Please do not get me started on Zippers and what a disappointment it is considering all of the great things it has going for it, especially being the ONLY BEACHFRONT BAR AND GRILL IN SAN JOSÉ!

Back to the point… no one was sharing waves with Angie so when she finally caught one she added a flair for the dramatic at the end of her ride!

Few Los Cabos communities currently under development have been as eagerly anticipated as Twin Dolphin Cabo along the coast of Playa Las Viudas and Santa Maria Bay.  Named as a tribute the iconic hotel that proudly stood from 1977 to 2006 Twin Dolphin, developed by Ohana Real Estate Investors, encompasses 1400 acres that will feature the Montage Los Cabos Resort along with 52 Montage Residences, the exclusive residential community of Maravilla, an 18-hole Fred Couples Signature golf course, retail shopping and restaurants. Residents and Guests are treated to a slew of amenities including a 20,000 square foot pool, destination spa, tennis courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and walk-in access to Santa Maria Bay known for its clear blue waters and vibrant sea life perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and exploring.

Residents of Cabo were first treated to a preview of the developer’s commitment to maintain the integrity and natural beauty of our area when they saved and replanted over 40,000 plants along their stretch of HWY 1. By resurfacing the public parking access and creating a handicap accessible path to the beach they quite literally paved the way for Playa Santa Maria to become one of only a few Blue Flag Certified Beaches in Los Cabos.

Twin Dolphin Cabo

I spoke to a homeowner within Maravilla, the private enclave of 34 residences on the shores of Las Viudas Beach, to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly:

“This may be a short interview because I can tell you, there is only good. No bad and definitely no ugly. Everything is amazing. We love Cabo and have been coming for years but we were never planning on purchasing a vacation home. We first visited Maravilla in January 2016 for an extended weekend with friends but when we got back home we started thinking, really thinking. We scheduled another trip down and bought!”

 When asked if there was any type of “A-ha Moment” since making the purchase he said,

 “We have been very happy with our choice and I think what really solidified our decision was a trip we made over Memorial Day last year. We visit Cabo once a month and for every major holiday. During this particular trip Maravilla had arranged an “Iron Chef” type ceviche competition that was designed for adults. Of course before long our children were participating with kids from other families and they were all having fun, laughing, learning, and to this day my kids still talk about it. We knew from day one that this was a great place to be but that moment really made it solid.”

I asked him about his families “vacation style”

“We are very low maintenance. When it is time to vacation than often it is time for rest and relaxation. Lots of time at the family pool and Santa Maria Bay. This community is fantastic whether you have the kids in tow or are down alone with your spouse or buddies. There is so much to do. One of the things we didn’t really think about, given the relatively small size of the community, was that you see the same families and kids trip after trip and that gives you the opportunity to bond over time with people that have similar interests. Something Maravilla is phenomenal at is how well they organize interesting activities for children that allow them to work together in low-pressure environments. The feeling of being part of a club is nice and we had an idea of how impactful it would be but it is very much taking on a life of it’s own.

 Surely there must be one disappointment?

“None. It has exceeded our hopes and although construction isn’t slated to end until early next year Ohana has been excellent at managing expectations and over-delivering. Truthfully, what they are doing is staggering and we could not be happier!”

Maravilla is a vibrant and active community while Montage Los Cabos, the Montage Residences, and Twin Dolphin Golf Club have been experiencing incredible demand since 2018. I had the opportunity to tour the model unit that is now open with Montage Director of Sales Julie Benjamin and I can attest that the eager anticipation is completely justified.
