If I cannot brag of knowing something, then I brag of not knowing it; at any rate, brag.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of our main priorities for our property in Pescadero is to create a food forest that will provide nourishment for years to come. A staple of that forest is the avocado. Avocados are a super-food that we enjoy eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A corn tortilla crisped on the gas range with mashed avocado, lime, and salsa can be a quick, easy snack that is devoured quickly. To this end, we planted five avocado trees and I am happy to report that they are all happy and healthy.
Where you come in
The problem that we ran into is we aren’t totally sure which varieties of avocados we have. Of course, when they start producing fruit we will figure it out but that’s no fun. We are fairly certain that number one is a Hass avocado because it is the only tree we did not plant. Actually, we threw the pit out and miraculously it just grew. The only concern is that it is growing about three feet from my grapefruit tree which will definitely be an issue in a few years. The other four varieties are anyone’s guess. I will leave the comments open on this post and if you fancy yourself an avocado expert than please share your knowledge!

Monday Night Football 2009, AZ Cardinals vs. SF 49ers
Super Bowl LIV, the 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League championship game, will decide the champion for the NFL’s 2019 and 100th season. The National Football Conference champion San Francisco 49ers will play against the American Football Conference champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Growing up in the Bay Area, I was birthed into the fandom of the San Francisco 49ers as they were “the team of the 1980’s” winning Super Bowls in 1982 and 1985. I was too young during those wins to really understand what was going on but during my formative years experienced back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1989 and 1990 when I was eight and nine years old respectively. Not only did the Niners win in ’89, but they did so in dramatic fashion that had me glued to the TV with my Dad. He had the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle the next day framed and hung in his mancave before mancave’s were a thing.
SUPER BOWL XXIII
Jan. 22, 1989, Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami
49ers 20, Cincinnati 16
Then again in 1990…
SUPER BOWL XXIV
Jan. 28, 1990, Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans
49ers 55, Denver 10
And again in 1995…
SUPER BOWL XXIX
Jan. 29, 1995, Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami
49ers 49, San Diego 26
After 1995 it was a long wait before reaching the Super Bowl again in 2013 and coming five yards short…
SUPER BOWL XLVII
Feb. 3, 2013, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans
Baltimore 34, 49ers 31
Now that I have been living in Mexico for the past six + years I find myself not following as closely to professional sports, especially with a fiancé that cares zero about any of it, but this season has been fun to watch. This year my family’s allegiance is torn because a second cousin’s brother is Eric Fisher, star offensive lineman for the Chiefs. Fortunately, either way, it will be a WIN for the Posey family.
For me, it’s all “Bang, Bang, Niner Gang.”
Where to watch in Cabo

For the ultimate Super Bowl LIV experience, The Rooftop at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel on Playa Monuments in Cabo San Lucas will be showing the game high-above the Sea of Cortez. USD $58 plus tax and service gets you all-you-can-eat and all-the-beer-you-can-drink starting at 4 PM.
Restaurante La Baja
In San José del Cabo, for those on a budget but still want great food, cold beers, and plenty of TV’s, Restauranté La Baja, in downtown is offering three specials:
The 49er: Two grilled hamburgers with all the fixins’ served with french fries and a bucket of five beers for 300 pesos
The Chief: An large order of our famous wings with a bucket of five beers for 270 pesos
I’m just here for the halftime show: Mound of nachos with a bucket of five beers for 300 pesos
On top of that, they are giving everyone in attendance for Super Bowl LIV their first beer free!
No matter where you go have fun and may the best team (Niners) win!!
With all of the activity and change in Cabo I receive one question more than any other, where is the next best place to invest? Of course, I am a huge believer in the income potential over the next twenty years at The Cape Residences. However, if someone wanted to build from the ground-up, for the next boom look to the Pacific. The coastal colony of Cerritos, towns of Pescadero, and Todos Santos offer a way of life so tranquil and enjoyable that I am hesitant to share them for fear of mass over-population. Just outside of Cabo San Lucas on the highway to Todos Santos is the colony of Elias Calles.
Elias Calles
Named after Plutarco Elias Calles, a Mexican military general and politician, who was President of Mexico from 1924-1928, Elias Calles is a small community with stunning sunsets daily. MLS 18-302 is a buildable lot of 5,728 square meters with 34 meters of oceanfront. It is not uncommon during certain times of the year to see whales breaching just past the breaking waves.
Whether you are seeking to buy and hold or buy and build, this lot in Elias Calles will satisfy both. Listed at $350,000 USD the beachfront lot is only $61USD per square meter. Contact Janet Jensen or Alex Mitre for more details.
What I was trying to say is that I am on property six days a week but tours are available seven days a week. Open house held each February weekend in Residence 720/721: Fridays 12-6, Saturdays 12-6, and Sundays 10-2. Open to the public with RSVP.
Thank you Nick Fong and Los Cabos Agent for visiting The Cape Residences.
